The Western New York Region, which includes Allegany and Cattaraugus counties, will reopen Tuesday.
Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo made the announcement Monday during his daily coronavirus briefing, which took place in Buffalo.
Cuomo said Western New York has met all seven metrics required to begin phase one of the state's regional phased reopening plan.
Western New York has identified 525 contact tracers, four more than needed to meet state requirements, he said.
"That means all the metrics will be hit, and Western New York will open tomorrow," the governor said. "So, that's exciting. It's been a long painful period, but we start to reopen tomorrow."
