OLEAN, NY — In the beginning, a bit before 6 p.m. Friday, everyone seemed to be setting up for the Olean Juneteenth Black Lives Matter Rally in Franchot Park.
Volunteers were putting out refreshments under the roof of a shelter. One man used mitts as he took a casserole from his car.
Away from the crowd, in the shelter of a three-sided tent, a team of nurses prepared to take COVID-19 tests.
Speakers are Della Moore, Daniel Gayton and Tejera.
Purchases of Black Lives Matter gear will support the African American Center for Cultural Development.
