CUBA, NY— State Police arrested a Cuba woman on Nov. 26 and charged her with welfare fraud.
Demetria E. Johnson, 57, of Cuba, filed false paperwork with the Allegany County Department of Social Services while applying for public assistance, which resulted in her receiving $448 in benefits to which she was not entitled, police said.
Johnson was charged with for Welfare Fraud and Filing a False Instrument. She was issued an appearance ticket for Belmont Village Court, where she is due to appear later this month.
