OLEAN, NY – Four men were arrested on drug charges Friday after police discovered them manufacturing methamphetamine inside an apartment at 112 S. Eighth St.
Dustin A. Haynes, 26, Dylin J. Light, 24, and J.B. Spates III, 41, all of Olean, and Thomas H. Ratliff, 42, were each charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
The arrests were made after investigators assigned to the Olean Police departments Street Crimes Unit obtained a search warrant for the apartment and served it with assistance from the department's Emergency Response Team.
Police said the four men were in the process of making methamphetamine when authorities entered the apartment. Due to the dangerous chemicals involved, the next-door apartment was evacuated, police said.
According to police, Cattaraugus County Child Protective Services were notified and responded for four children who were inside the apartment. The children were later turned over to a responsible relative, police said.
All four men were arraigned in Olean City Court and held without bail.
