OLEAN, NY – An Olean man was arrested Tuesday and charged with two felonies -- third-degree grand larceny and third-degree welfare fraud.
Police said they investigated David J. Fischer, 36, after receiving a complaint from the Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services for suspected welfare fraud.
Police said their investigation led them to believe that Fischer had received $3,027 in food stamps by concealing and failing to report income.
Fischer turned himself in at the City of Olean Court and was released. He is to appear back in the City of Olean Court at a later date.
