CLARKSVILLE, NY --- Police are searching for 17-year-old William J. Larson for questioning after a double-homicide and arson fire that occurred early Thursday in Clarksville, located in Allegany County. The investigation is ongoing.

Shortly before midnight, the Clarksville Volunteer Fire Company responded to a structure fire at 8472 Courtney Hollow Road. Upon their arrival, they were met by Larson and contained a small fire at the residence. After discovering two deceased bodies, they contacted the New York State Police. Prior to police’s arrival, Larson fled the scene on foot, police said.

Police confirmed that weapons were in the residence, but could not confirm whether the two deceased people were killed by the fire.

Local school districts were contacted and each acted accordingly: Cuba-Rushford and Portville closed schools while Hinsdale and Olean enforced a lock out. Mt. Ireneaus, a Franciscan retreat center also located in Clarksville, announced that it is closed as a precaution.

Police described Larson as being 5-foot-9 in height and as being last seen wearing black pants with a short-sleeve flannel hoodie over an orange shirt.
