TOWN OF OLEAN, NY – The town’s fire department will receive a $25,238 federal grant for water rescue training.

“This training will be done within the year,” Town of Olean Fire Chief Scott Zink said. “I want my guys to be able to do quick action water rescue.”

The grant will come from the Assistance for Firefighters Grant Program.

“We recognize the important role firefighters play in keeping us safe every day,” Rep. Tom Reed said.

The Olean grant was part of $456,000 in Assistance for Firefighters funding for fire departments in Reed’s district, which includes the Greater Olean area.
