ALLEGANY, NY —On a wet, cloudy Thursday at scenic Clapp Field, the Allegany-Limestone varsity girl’s soccer team cruised to a 7-1 win over Dunkirk.
Allegany-Limestone struck early with a goal by Alyssa Spring and scored four goals in the first 20 minutes. Dunkirk struggled to keep up with Allegany’s crisp play, only crossing into the other team’s territory twice in the first 25 minutes.
With 15 minutes left in the first half, Allegany-Limestone pulled all but one of its starters. The substitutes picked up right where the starting players left off and scored another goal, making it 5-0 at the half.
At the start of the second half, Dunkirk made it clear that it wasn't going to give up without a fight. Dunkirk scored within the first 30 seconds and controlled play.for the first 10 minutes,
Following some back-and-forth play, Allegany-Limestone made another large substitution. The team dominated the final 20 minutes, scoring two more goals.
With the win, Allegany-Limestone improved its record to 10-1 on the season and 6-0 in league play.
Allegany-Limestone will take on Falconer in its next contest, which is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Clapp Field.
