BROOKLYN, NY — Atlantic 10 Conference Commissioner Bernadette McGlade announced on Wednesday night that fans will not be allowed to attend the Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Championship, effective Thursday.
Earlier this week, the Ivy League canceled its conference tournament. On Wednesday, many major conferences, including the Big 10, Pac-12, Big 12 and more, canceled upcoming conference tournament games.
In addition, the NCAA announced Wednesday afternoon that fans will not be able to attend any NCAA Tournament games.
“Although this was a difficult decision, it’s imperative that the Atlantic 10 act in the best interest of our student-athletes, teams and member institutions," McGlade wrote in a news release. "This a very unique and serious situation given the global impact of COVID-19, and as disappointing as this is for our fans and spectators, this decision had to be made. I want to thank everyone who is and has been supporting our basketball programs this season and encourage all to tune in to our games on our television partners.”
Thursday’s Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Championship games will be televised on NBCSN while Saturday’s semifinal round will be televised on CBS Sports Network. Sunday’s championship game will be televised on CBS at 1 p.m.
The St. Bonaventure men’s basketball team will play George Mason Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
