OLEAN, NY — The Safe Kids Southern Tier New York Coalition is conducting a Safe Summer Bike Helmets program in collaboration with emergency medical services and police departments in Cattaraugus, Allegany and Chautauqua counties.
“The coalition is excited to be able to support the program,” Donna Kahm, Southern Tier Health Care System president and CEO, said.
Kahm said EMS and police departments will patrol their communities throughout the summer looking for children riding bicycles or other common recreational transports.
Children who are seen riding without helmets will receive free helmets. Children with helmets will receive $5 Amazon gift cards.
Parents of children who need helmets should contact the coalition at firstname.lastname@example.org or 716-372-0614.
