ELMIRA, NY – Cuba native Cam Brickey was selected as one of Elmira College’s athletes of the week.
Brickey, who is a member of the lacrosse team, turned in a string of excellent defensive performances, helping his team gain two wins this week, according to a press release from the college.
The long-stick midfielder had a team-high 22 ground balls and caused 10 turnovers. Brickey flashed his two-way game as well, posting the second assist of his career in a 12-1 defeat of Alfred State.
Brickey had his best outing of the week in Elmira’s 7-5 victory over SUNY Cobleskill. Brickey was a force on the defensive side of the ball, as he picked up a career-high 13 ground balls and added five caused turnovers to round out his contributions.
Through four games, Brickey led the team in ground balls (26) and is tied for fourth in the Empire 8 Conference in ground balls per game (6.5). He also ranks second in the league in caused turnovers per game at 3.5.
