Create Your Own Tie-Dye
Saturday, August 22, 10:30am-12pm

Meet us on the library lawn and get ready to tie-dye! Bring one cotton or cotton blend item (no bigger than a t-shirt) to tie-dye and a plastic bag to put it in. The library will supply rubber bands and dye. We'll also have tips on how to wrap your item to get different effects. The actual dipping will be done by library staff. No registration required - all welcome!  Masks worn over nose and mouth and social distancing required.  Rain date: Saturday, August 29.  Questions? Adult Summer Reading Program
June 29th - August 12th

Designed for ages 18 & up to encourage life-long reading habits. Once you've earned enough points you'll be entered into a raffle for a Visa gift card.  To earn points: read a book (ebooks & audiobooks count!), attend a library event, or write down your bucket list for the summer and check one or two items off. Once you earn 700 points you will be entered in the raffle. For every 100 points beyond 700 you will receive an additional entry.  Register online through READSquared (http://johnsonlib.readsquared.com/) or the READSquared app.  You can also pick up paper forms at the library.  Have fun imagining your story this summer!

Hackensack Creates...Virtually-Tissue Paper Art
Wednesday, August 19, 6:30-8pm

Draw or write on a canvas panel, then use tissue paper and water to create your own work of art.  Register by Monday, August 17. After you receive your confirmation email, pick up your craft kit at the library on Tuesday, August 18. You will need a paintbrush or spray bottle and water. Teen Summer Reading Program

JPL is hosting its popular Teen Summer Reading Program online this year for all students entering Grades 7-12 in Fall 2020. Kids’ Summer Reading Club
June 29th - August 12th for incoming sixth graders and below

Register online (http://johnsonlib.readsquared.com/) or through the READSquared app. For every 5 books read and logged, a raffle ticket entry will be entered in your name. The more books you read the better your chances are of winning a $50 electronic gift card of your choice! We will hold weekly raffles for those who keep reading and logging.  Kids can also keep track of books read on paper logs.  Please call the Children’s Department to register, or pick up paper logs and register in person.  To be eligible for our Virtual Summer Reading Club Party (August 14th at 2pm), kids must read and log at least five books by Wednesday, August 12th. Exercise Bingo for Kids
June 29th - August 12th for all ages

Join us for a fun, active challenge you can do from home! Achieve bingo by completing 5 square challenges horizontally, vertically or diagonally on the bingo sheet. We will be giving out 25 free pedometers beginning on July 7th. Let staff know by Wednesday, August 12th, which activities you completed for a bingo and you will be entered into a raffle for a $25 electronic gift card of your choice! Virtual Summer Reading Club Party

Those who have read and logged at least 5 books by August 12th are invited to our awesome Virtual Summer Reading Club Party via Boxcast! We will welcome back the great Turtle Dance Music, who will be performing their Imagine Your Story: A Music, Bubble And Comedy Show! This show features wonderful songs and tales based on classic fairy tales from Hans Christian Anderson, The Brothers Grimm, and explores mythological creatures from around the world!  The Children’s Department staff will contact the winners of the $50 electronic gift cards after the show. Winners must at least be entering pre-K and be present at the party to receive a gift card. If you do not have access to the Internet to attend the party, please email hackjuv@hackensack.bccls.org and you will be entered into the raffle manually. The more books you read the better your chances are of winning so read, read, read!  All qualifying members will be able to pick up a free book and gift bag starting on Monday, August 17th.
