HACKENSACK, NJ – Earlier today, at Bergen County Academies, Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco was sworn in to his second term, surrounded by family, friends and elected officials including U.S. Senator Cory Booker.
A former Paramus Mayor, then-Freeholder Tedesco unseated former County Executive Kathleen Donovan in 2014. This November, Tedesco defeated Republican County Executive candidate Bergenfield Mayor Norman Scmelz 204,816 votes to 121,654.
"It's fitting that I start these next four year the same way I started the last four, by saying thank you to all of you!" Tedesco said to the capacity crowd. "All I have done as County Executive, all the milestones we have achieved, all the credit goes to thousands of dedicated employees who support our veterans, manage our budget process, staff flu clinics, plow our roads, keep our parks clean, and do countless other things each day to make life better for the people of Bergen County. With their support and partnership, I set out to do all in my power to build a better Bergen County for all of its nearly one million residents."
