HACKENSACK, N.J. — The biggest shopping event of the year will start off right in Hackensack.

Beginning on Black Friday (November 27), the city will offer free parking in all metered spots along Main and Anderson Streets. Meters will be covered with a festive covering reading, “Happy Holidays, Free Parking.”

Parking will remain free until Christmas Day, December 25.

The City encourages business owners and employees to park in their designated spots to free up the free metered ones for shoppers.

Said Councilwoman Stephanie Von Rudenborg, “The holidays are a special time, and suspending metered parking downtown is one of the ways we want to make life a little easier for residents and visiting shoppers. My council colleagues and Mayor [John Labrosse] agree this is a nice way to thank Hackensack residents for shopping locally, and also drive business to our downtown area.”
