HACKENSACK, NJ – A 31-year-old Hackensack man faces charges after authorities say he lured a child into his vehicle last week “for the purpose of engaging in a sexual act.”

On June 4, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation after the incident was reported to Hackensack Police Department, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said in a news release issued Monday evening.

Subsequently, Luis Farias, a married barber, was arrested later that day and charged with luring, a second degree crime, and endangering the welfare of a child, a third degree crime, Musella said.

He was transported to Bergen County Jail pending a detention hearing on June 10, according to the prosecutor’s office.
