HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Members of IAFF Locals 2081 & 3172 of the City Fire Department donated 100 turkeys, nearly 1,000 pounds of dry food, and Thanksgiving dinner fixings to the Center For Food Action in Hackensack and Saddle Brook.

The Center for Food Action informed the department that before the pandemic, they averaged feeding about 1,500 families a month. Due to the unprecedented times brought on by the pandemic, they are now presently feeding a whopping 900 to 1,000 families per week. The Hackensack Fire Department recognized the urgent need for food donations to local food pantries such as the Center for Food Action.

The department thanks General Store Manager Michael Dixon and Stop & Shop of Hackensack for their gift card donation towards their purchase of 100 turkeys.
