HACKENSACK – A 25-year-old Hackensack man faces sex crimes charges after police say he acted inappropriately towards several women.
Authorities arrested Lavert Conway on Thursday following an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Norwood Police Department, according to Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo.
Authorities launched their investigation after receiving information Sunday that Conway allegedly “engaged in inappropriate, nonconsensual sexual activities with multiple individuals in Norwood,” Calo said in a news release.
Conway has been charged with one count of sexual assault, a second degree crime, and three counts of criminal sexual contact, a fourth degree crime.
He was taken to Bergen County Jail for processing, Calo said. At his first court appearance on Friday, the state moved for detention, Calo said.
A detention hearing has been scheduled for Wednesday.
