HACKENSACK, NJ -  Hackensack Police will provide free car seat installation and safety checks for all city residents on Saturday outside of police headquarters.

The program will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. of the police department’s rear parking lot (225 State Street), where officers will make sure car seats are installed correctly or they will install a new car seat, at no cost.

According to the police department, 80% of car seats are improperly installed and have led to children either being killed or seriously injured during car accidents. Motor vehicle crashes are the number one cause of unintentional injury-related deaths among children ages 14 and under.
