HACKENSACK, N.J. -- The inaugural Hackensack Bike Run on Saturday, September 19 drew approximately 75-100 participants, which included families with children as young as five, and the Brothers United Bike Club.
Donning protective masks and adhering to social distancing guidelines, members of the Hackensack Fire Department also participated in the 3.2-mile bike run, which was coordinated with assistance from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Offices. The Hackensack Volunteer Ambulance Squad also provided their support for this event, which brought residents and law enforcement to Union Street Park where they cycled to The Green at Main and Court Streets for a morning of positive interaction.
“I’d particularly like to thank Hackensack Deputy Mayor Dave Sims and Hackensack Councilwoman Stephanie Von Rudenborg for participating in this community event and for their continued support of the police department,” said Detective Captain Darrin DeWitt. “We appreciate everyone that came out, and we’re already discussing ways to make next year’s event even bigger and better."
