HACKENSACK, N.J. — The city fire department is asking residents to keep off the roads as Hackensack is experiencing its first bout of downed trees and wires about one hour into heavy winds and rain caused by the effects of Tropical Storm Isaias.

The Fire Department posted several photos on social media early Tuesday afternoon of downed trees and wires in various residential areas in town and is asking people to keep their distance from downed wires and treat them as if they were live and to call 911 to report them.

Residents are asked to call 1-800-436-7734 to report an outage.
