[HACKENSACK, February 10]— The Greater Bergen County YMCA is pleased to invite local families to the first annual STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) and Literacy Festival. This event is open to all local families with children curious and interested in exploring the world around us through science and reading. The event is open to elementary school-aged children and is sponsored through a grant provided by Leap into Science.
STEAM and Literacy Festival will be held on Saturday, Feb. 29 from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. at the Greater Bergen County YMCA located on Main Street in Hackensack. Event organizers have secured program partners like the Johnson Public Library, Valley Medical Group, Bergen County Community College, and other local corporations and hospitals to create up to 10 stations with different hands-on STEAM and literacy activities inspired by the Leap into Science curriculum.
Each child will receive a passport at check-in encouraging them to visit all the stations. Story time will showcase the books, poems, and other literacy materials. Children will leave with new STEAM lessons and a list of related books. Families should RSVP for the event at http://bit.ly/20leaph.
