HACKENSACK, NJ - County officials recognized a Bergen County Academies student this past week for coming in first place at an international science competition.

Jason Ping, a junior, was presented with a certificate of commendation by the Freeholder Board and County Executive Jim Tedesco on Wednesday.

Ping was named the first place winner of the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Phoeniz, Az. last month for creating a tool that is able to comb through biomedical literature and predict the effects of genetic mutation in cancer.

The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair is the world's largest international pre-college science competition.
