HACKENSACK, N.J. -- In honor of Black History Month, the Hackensack Mayor and Council will recognize two exemplary residents and commemorate the anniversaries of three landmark Hackensack Churches at a ceremony Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 65 Central Avenue, Hackensack. The honorees are Elaine Merrit, Founder-Pastor Highway Holiness Church Ministries, Inc. and Dr. Yolanda Hawkins-Rodgers. The ceremony will also commemorate the 100th anniversary of New Hope Baptist Church located at 214 Berdan Place, the 50th anniversary of the Trinity Baptist Church, located at 218 Passaic Street, and the 30th anniversary of Founder-Pastor Highway Holiness Church Ministries, Inc. located at 64 Passaic Street.
 
Family and friends of the honorees will be present at the ceremony, and members of the public are invited to attend.
