SOUTH RIVER, NJ -- A GoFundMe page set up for the family of U.S. Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick has raised more that $545,000 as of Sunday evening, Jan. 10, 2021. To contribute to the page, click here

Officer Brian D. Sicknick tragically lost his life on January 7th, 2021 following injuries sustained during the events at the United States Capitol on Wednesday, January 6th. I had the pleasure of serving on the same shift as Officer Sicknick.

Brian was a veteran and New Jersey native who served in the New Jersey Air National Guard. During this time, he served his country stateside and in overseas operations.

Officer Sicknick joined the United States Capitol Police in July of 2008 and on his most recent assignment he served on the First Responders Unit. Officer Sicknick shared a passion for the outdoors and became a member of the mountain bike unit with Capitol Police, patrolling the grounds daily. His fellow officers remember him as someone they could always count on to be there and also could always bring a smile or laugh to them. Brian also shared a love for dogs as many of us at USCP do.

There are no words to describe the loss of Officer Brian Sicknick. He will forever be remembered for his bravery and service to our country as a member of the military and a United States Capitol Police Officer.

This GoFundMe page was created on behalf of Brian's family with their permission and is being managed by a USCP officer that served with Officer Sicknick. Donations received are going directly to the family of Officer Brian Sicknick and will be used in whatever way the family needs.

I would like to thank everyone who has donated and continues to share our fundraiser. Officer Sicknick's family is overwhelmed by the generosity received and are truly grateful.
