HACKENSACK, NJ -- ShopRite's annual Bag Hunger Day, a storewide event that invites local dignitaries to join ShopRite associates at the register, saw members of the Hackensack City Council and Fire and Police Departments volunteer for a good cause.

Deputy Mayor David Sims, Deputy Fire Chief John Niland and Police Captain Darrin Dewitt gave their time yesterday to help bag groceries.

The ShopRite initiatives welcomes guests to don aprons and bag groceries to bring awareness to the issue of hunger in our communities. The day is annually recognized by state legislatures and governors throughout the six states that ShopRite services.
