HACKENSACK, NJ - On Monday evening, the Hackensack Fire Department will hold its annual memorial service to honor the five city firefighters who were killed in the July 1, 1988 Hackensack Ford dealership fire.
The ceremony is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the firefighter's memorial in Fairmount Park, which is located in between Main Street and Temple Avenue.
The department said it will also be live streaming the ceremony on its Facebook page.
The deaths of Capt. Richard Williams, Lt. Richard Reinhagen and firefighters Steven Ennis, William Krejsa and Leonard Radumski were the first line-of-duty deaths in the department's history and each year a service is held to pay respects to the fallen heroes.
In a post on its Facebook page, the department wrote, "Please take a moment to remember these brave men and say a prayer for them, their families and all the firefighters who have given their lives in the line of duty. Also, those firefighters who protect us day in and day out across the country."
