HACKENSACK, NJ -- Deputy Mayor David Sims read a proclamation at this week’s City Council meeting recognizing the achievements of Fairleigh Dickinson University Mens Basketball team, which qualified for the NCAA March madness tournament for the second time in four years and winning the play in game against Prairie View A&M and winning for the first time in school history.
After overcoming a 1-4 start to their season, the Knights finished with a 12-6 record and a share of the Northeast Conference title. The team finished strong down the stretch, by winning eight of their last nine games.
Head Coach Greg Herenda, members of his staff and several players were on hand to accept the honor.
“I was thrilled to have them here,” Deputy Mayor Kathleen Canestrino said. “I think that’s really a big part of who we are and what we do. We appreciate those who contribute to the city. They make Hackensack what it is.”
