TRENTON, NJ - Governor Phil Murphy announced the latest COVID-19 figures from around the New Jersey during his Monday afternoon press conference, where he addressed why a small percentage of the state's vaccine allotment has been administered to the public.
There were 2,292 new cases reported, with 38 new deaths. Statewide, there are now 494,317 positive cases and 17,223 deaths, and 2,021 probable COVID-19 fatalities.
According to Murphy, Essex County has 48,518 positive cases, and followed by Bergen (48,486), Middlesex (46,558), Hudson (45,384), Passaic (40,747), with 1,122 under investigation.
Two counties had over 200 new cases, Ocean (226) and Middlesex (212.) Nine counties reported over 100 new cases, Bergen (199), Hudson (182), Monmouth (172), Essex (163), Camden (151), Passaic (117), Morris (117) Burlington (111) and Atlantic (106.)
As of 10 p.m. Sunday, there were 3,633 people hospitalized, with 3,438 testing positive and 195 awaiting results. There were 664 patients in ICU and 476 on ventilators.
