HACKENSACK, NJ – The Diabetes Foundation recently held its annual Visions of Hope gala, a fundraising effort that benefits programs, care and research related to the disease.

At this year’s event – which was May 1 at the Venetian in Garfield, the Hackensac-based not-for-profit organization recognized community partners who are committed to making life a little easier for Garden State residents with diabetes.

Ginine Cilenti, Executive Director of the Diabetes Foundation, said the annual fundraiser gives them an opportunity “to thank all of our supporters and honor those organizations whose generosity has translated into positive health outcomes for our program participants.”

This year, Becton, Dickinson and Company was given a Corporate Champion Award for the company’s charitable donations, in-kind contributions of free diabetes supplies for people with financial difficulty and commitment to care and research.

The Diabetes Center at Holy Name Hospital, as well as the North Hudson Community Action Corporation, were both recognized as Healthcare Honorees.

“We are excited to continue our partnership with the Diabetes Foundation and are honored to be recognized for our support of their vital services to those living with diabetes in our community,” said Stanislav Glezer, BD’s Global Vice President of Medical Affairs, Diabetes Care at BD. “Education and support programs, like the ones that the Diabetes Foundation brings to its participants, are vital to diabetes awareness and to the health and wellness of residents across the Garden State.”

Cilenti added: “We are grateful to have had the chance to publicly thank BD and our other partners for their continued support of our vital programs for the nearly 1 out of 10 New Jersey residents living with diabetes.”
