HACKENSACK, N.J. — Mayor John Labrosse delivered opening remarks at the City’s first annual Redevelopment Summit at the Hackensack Performing Arts Center Thursday as a number of panelists addressed the audience and answered questions about the downtown renaissance occurring in Hackensack.
“This is one of the things we promised to do and we’re doing it,” Labrosse said. "As you know, there’s a lot going on in Hackensack and there’s nothing quite like this in Northern New Jersey. This is a first annual event and we hope to have these the next few years until we’re fully completed.”
“Redevelopment is such a major part of our city’s future and this was a wonderful opportunity to keep the redevelopment community updated on everything that’s going on in our city,” said Deputy Mayor Kathleen Canestrino.
Numerous developers on the panel, which also included Director of Redevelopment Albert Dib and City Planner Fran Reiner, praised the cooperative nature of Hackensack’s governing body and how easy they are to work with.
"I was pleased to see such a large turnout and hope to see even more attend our future redevelopment summits," said Canestrino.
“Hackensack is a place where developers are welcomed, not scorned,” said Jerry Lombardo, Chairman of the Main Street Business Alliance. “This government understands and will do what they can to help you.”
