HACKENSACK, NJ – A vehicle pursuit on Route 80 ended last Friday in the arrest of a 27-year-old Teaneck man who was in possession of narcotics.

According to a press release from the Hackensack Police Department, Narcotics Detective John Dalton was on patrol on Route 80 eastbound at 3:51 p.m. on Friday, September 27 when he activated his lights and sirens attempting to stop Mark J. Olszewski’s 2018 Hyundai Tuscan. The man, however, refused to pull over and instead dodged police by increasing his speed and weaving in and out of lanes. Police ceased the pursuit to avoid any accidents during rush-hour traffic, the news release states.

Police from the Hackensack and Teaneck Police Departments responded to Olszewski’s Teaneck home shortly thereafter to find the suspect hiding in his backyard in possession of cocaine. A search of his car yielded more of the illegal substance and a hypodermic needle.

Olszewski was remanded to Bergen County Jail and arrested for possession of cocaine, drug paraphernalia and a hypodermic needle, in addition to eluding, resisting arrest and having several warrants from area towns.
