HACKENSACK, N.J. — Thirty firefighters from the city and borough of Teaneck assisted to battle a blaze that ignited inside the parking garage at the Shops at Riverside this afternoon.

At around 3:30 p.m., a fire started in a compactor dumpster in the parking garage behind Bloomingdale’s. The sprinkler system activated, putting out a majority of the blaze.

The fire caused minor smoke conditions in the upscale department store’s basement, and the store was evacuated, Fire Captain Derevyanik said.

No injuries were reported. The fire is currently under investigation and does not appear to be suspicious.
