HACKENSACK, NJ - A 61-year-old Lodi woman said her car’s brake failure caused her to crash into a West Pleasantview Avenue business late Wednesday morning, police said.

Around 11:50 a.m., officers were dispatched to Breen Trucking, where they found a BMW through the front entrance of the building, damaging the garage bay doors, entryway and façade, police said.

The force of the collision also wrecked a support beam inside the garage, as well as three custom motorcycles that were parked behind the bay doors, according to police.

The driver, Agnes Lacap, told officers that she attempted to stop at the intersection of Poor Street and West Pleasantview Avenue, but her brakes failed, sending her car across the roadway and into the building.

No injuries were reported and no other vehicles were involved in the crash, police said.

Hackensack Building Department responded to the scene to assess the structure, while crews from Hackensack Fire Department worked to temporarily secured the building’s support beam until permanent repairs can be made.

No summonses have been issued to Lacap as of late Wednesday afternoon, police said.
