HACKENSACK- A 50-year-old Hackensack man faces an attempted murder charge after police say he stabbed a woman in the throat early Saturday morning.
Just before 4 a.m., officers were called to a home in the northern report of the city after receiving a report of an assault, Capt. Darrin DeWitt said in a press release.
Upon arrival, police found a woman who was suffering from possible life threatening injuries after being stabbed in the throat, he said. The woman told officers she pretended to be dead until her attacker left the home, DeWitt said.
Following an investigation, police arrested Jergere Minaya-Acosta and charged him with attempted murder, poessession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and endangering an injured victim, the captain said. Other charges related to the incident were also filed, he said.
Minaya-Acosta was remanded to county jail pending a court hearing on Monday, the captain said.
