HACKENSACK, NJ – A 46-year-old Maywood man suffered minor injuries after he tried to cross the street against a traffic signal and wound up being struck by a car in Hackensack, according to police. 

Shortly after 11 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Essex Street and Summit Avenue on a report of a pedestrian being hit by a car,  according to Police Capt. Nicole Foley.

Further investigation revealed the man was crossing in a marked crosswalk, however the driver, a 42-year-old woman, had the green signal and was attempting to make a left turn when she hit him, Foley said.

The captain said the man sustained foot pain and abraisions following the accident.

No charges have been filed at this time, according to police.
