ROBBINSVILLE, NJ - The New Jersey Interscholastic Athletic Association formally began the process of the setting up a football playoff system that will allow the state, for the first time, have statewide group champions.
NJSIAA staff, in association with the New Jersey Football Coaches Association, have introduced a measure to change the NJSIAA Constitution to eliminate a provision that prohibits a state championship from being declared in football.
Ballots were previously mailed out to athletic directors, and are to be mailed by Friday to NJSIAA. The results will be made public on January 13. The NJSIAA Football Advisory Committee and the NJSIAA Executive Committee have endorsed the proposal.
The measure is expected to pass.
