This month, Giant Gymnastics of Lafayette will be expanding its space just 10 months after it opened last June. Construction has already begun, with the addition of a new entrance door and viewing window from the new waiting room/office area. The change will allow owners John Skorski and Jennifer Packard to see their original vision for their 2nd location come to fruition- allowing them to lengthen the runway for the vaulting table, give more space for balance beams, and move the uneven bars further apart to allow for a better working space. "Our Summer Programs will be able to offer more activities with the additional space,” explained Skorski, looking forward to the expansion completion. “It also allows us to give more working space in and around the equipment. And having an extra beam will allow gymnasts to take more turns in less time."
The entrance will move next door and have a shared waiting room with SIR Wrestling and Iron Temple Martial Arts. With the waiting room moved, the parents of gymnasts can now watch classes and wait for their children in more comfort. The new space has better heating and air conditioning for when warmer weather arrives, and more tables and chairs to accommodate the growing gyms families. Packard is enthusiastic about the shared venture. "We are very excited to be creating an environment where all businesses can grow together, and complement each other in such great ways."
This week during a three day break from classes, work will conclude with rearranging of the gym’s apparatus and equipment. Classes will resume on Friday, March 9th with a fresh new look and roomier space for the coaches and gymnasts to work in.
