HAMILTON, NJ – The Hamilton Area YMCA will honor two of the community's leaders at its annual I’m Possible fundraiser that will be virtually this year. The banner event will include a featured guest -- Alex Hernandez -- known as nurse Casey Acosta from NBC’s New Amsterdam.

Diana Zita, CEO of the Hamilton Area YMCA. said the support of this fundraiser is more critical than its ever been. The Y has been candid with the local community about the struggles the organization has faced, due in large part to months of closure brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are excited to celebrate our annual I’m Possible event this year! Now more than ever the Y is working to keep our community healthy, engaged and united. Please join us at our event which will celebrate some true community heroes while lifting your spirits," said Zita.

In addition, the Y will honor Scott Kent as their Community Enrichment Award recipient and James Schulz, Jr. as their Maurice T. Perilli Friend of the Y recipient.

Scott has been a supporter of the YMCA for many years. He works professionally as area manager for Store Operations at Wawa Inc. overseeing numerous stores located in Central and Northern New Jersey. Scott has been with Wawa for 40 years and their mission is very important to him. Wawa’s mission dovetails with the Hamilton Area YMCA’s mission – both are committed to building and maintaining strong community relationships.

As immediate past chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hamilton Area YMCA, Jim Schulz has been an integral part of our growth and progress over the last several years. In addition to his volunteer work at the Y, Jim is a veteran of state and federal government and politics having served in various capacities throughout his career. For the past 18 years, he has served as the director of governmental and public affairs for the New Jersey Dental Association.

“It is a privilege to honor these two men who have supported and volunteered so much time to this organization. Our supporters and volunteers truly make the Y possible,” said Rachel Holland, chairperson of the YMCA Board of Directors.”
