EAST WINDSOR, NJ -- The original artwork of talented seniors will go on display at the annual Mercer County Senior Art Show starting next week. Sponsored by the Mercer County Division of Culture & Heritage and the Office on Aging, the exhibit will feature original artworks created within the past three years, from drawings to paintings to crafts, by Mercer County residents age 60 or older.
“Mercer County has so many older adults who tap into their creativity to create new works of art,” said Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes. “I am looking forward to seeing the work of many talented artists on display this summer.”
The 2019 Mercer County Senior Art Show will be open 10:00am and 4:00pm, Monday through Saturday between July 17 through August 9 at Meadow Lakes retirement community on Etra Road, just off Route 571, in East Windsor. Groups of six or more visitors are asked to call Meadow Lakes at 609-448-4100 at least 24 hours prior to arrival to arrange for a tour guide.
A professional juror selects the winners in this show. Up to 22 artists (one "professional" winner and one "non-pro" winner in each of the 11 categories) may move on to the statewide competition, the New Jersey Senior Art Show, to be held Sept. 20 through Oct. 25, also at the Meadow Lakes retirement community.
