HAMILTON, NJ --   As important as it is to think about healthy food on our family's dinner table, it's also important to think about what we feed our beloved furry family members. Now, following the Saturday opening of The Healthy Animal, local dog and cat owners have easy access healthy eating options geared towards maintaining our family pet's health and wellness.

Located in Foxmoor Shopping Plaza along the border of Hamilton and Robbinsville, the newly opened The Healthy Animal is the first in New Jersey. In addition to nutritious pet foods and snacks, the store also offers all-natural, holistic supplements, essential oils and natural remedies, plus tough and durable toys that are all made in America.

Owner Robert Walling said that his appreciation for the need to bring more nutritious options for animals combined with his background working with PetCo to make this store a reality.

The store also will be home for cats seeking new homes through adoption with the Trenton Cats Rescue. At the store opening, three female kittens between the ages of six and seven months -- Celaeno, Merope and Boo Boo -- who are all looking for their forever homes, enjoyed greeting the guests

Walling said that he hopes to hold a pet adoption event under the Foxmoor Plaza clock tower when the weather is warmer.

The Healthy Animal will be open Monday through Saturday between 10:00 am and 7:00 pm and on Sunday between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm.
