HAMILTON, NJ -- Everyone remembers their favorite substitute teacher, a fresh face in their classroom for a few days every so often. Hamilton Township School District is looking for new substitute teachers, school professionals, secretaries, and custodians to step in for those who may be out for a sick day or two or for a few months on an extended leave of absence.
To fill available openings, the Hamilton Township School District is hosting a Substitute Employee Job Fair on Wednesday, January 22 between 9:00 am and 2:30 am at the District's Administration Building located at 90 Park Avenue.
"If you need a flexible day to day work schedule, love working with people and making a difference, substitute teaching is for you," said Rebecca Gold, Interim Director of Human Resources for the Hamilton Township School District. "Subbing in the school district offers you a chance to enjoy schedule flexibility, interesting and varied work, and an opportunity to meet wonderful, committed people that care about our community and our future.......Hamilton Township School District is for you!"
Gold noted that the District hired many individuals and the last job fair held during the fall. Given the large size of the school district across 23 schools, there still are openings for substitutes school professionals in Hamilton Township.
The school district is looking for both short-term and long-term substitute employees. All substitutes would need to undergo a criminal background check.
In order to be hired, an applicant to be a short-term day-to-day substitute teacher needs a minimum of 60 college credit and a state or county teaching certificate. Long-term substitute teachers, those employed for more than 20 days, also need to have subject area experience. Substitute secretaries require computer skills and, like substitute custodians, will undergo additional training.
Application packets for school substitutes will be available at the job fair.
