HAMILTON, NJ -- After a threatening message was found on the Hamilton Township Facebook page, local law authorities opened an immediate investigation on Tuesday.

Hamilton Police began on investigation of a comment made by an unidentified female who wrote "Let's blow them up" referring to vote-by-mail boxes located in Mercer County to collect Primary Election ballots.   One of the secured mail boxes is located in front of the Hamilton Call Center on Justice Samuel Alito Jr. Way in Hamilton.

As a result of the investigation, Hamilton Police determined that there is "no viable or credible threat to any property or any ballot box in the Mercer County area."

"I am fully confident that the Township and Prosecutor's offices' investigation confirms that vote by mail ballots delivered to the drop box at the Township Golf Center are safe," said Hamilton Mayor Jeff Martin.  "The Mercer County Clerk and Board of Elections are working diligently to ensure election protection."

The secure boxes are under 24-7 camera surveillance.  Ballots are retrieved daily from Mercer County law enforcement.
