HAMILTON, NJ -- Hamilton Girl Scout Stephanie Renzi had been undecided about what to do as a project to earn her Silver Award. With the spread of the coronavirus keeping families from visiting their loved ones who live in retirement homes or assisted living facilities, she decided to find bring happiness to those elderly New Jerseyans.
"I wanted to help senior citizens not feel as sad and lonely while they're in quarantine. I started thinking about how I could lift their spirits and came up with a plan. I started asking people at my school and in my community to help," said Renzi in a note to friends asking for participation in the project.
"They are drawing pictures, quotes and anything to make the resident smile. Using these creations I am going to make digital presentations to share with multiple retirement homes," Renzi added. "Hopefully these will be played for the residents to make them smile"
As Renzi collects the contributions to the program, she will be compiling new presentations each week for senior citizens to watch.
