HAMILTON, NJ --  The Hamilton Area YMCA celebrated the national Day of Giving and Giving Tuesday by encouraging area residents to support their food drive to help local families facing food insecurity.

The YMCA is asking for donations of non-perishable and healthy food items such as: water, bread, peanut butter, jelly, Macaroni & Cheese or Easy Mac, soups, pasta, pasta sauce, non-sugary cereal, single serving 100 percent juice boxes, granola bars, cheese sticks, pancake mix, oranges, apples, and bottles of apple juice.

Donations can be dropped off in bins placed in front of the Hamilton Area YMCA JKR Branch located at 1315 Whitehorse Mercerville Road in Hamilton Township.  Donations will be accepted until Friday, May 8, each day until 4:00 pm.   Food will be distributed to local families on Saturday, May 9.

Even though the YMCA is closed to the public to limit the spread of the coronavirus, and forced to lay-off many full-time employees, it continues to serve the community through child care for essential workers and virtual work-outs to keep people moving while at home.
