HAMILTON, NJ --  A day after a Township Council subcommittee met to hear about potential updates, changes or improvements at the Hamilton Animal Shelter and Adoption Center done in the last year, Township Business Administrator David Kenny said that "things are going well at the shelter."

The meeting was convened Wednesday night by Council members Ileana Schirmer and Rick Tighe to hear from Animal Shelter Director Marion Mumford who did not attend the meeting despite a subpeona being issued for her to attend.

"Ms. Schirmer and Mr. Tighe were informed five weeks or so ago that Ms. Mumford has a one-year old child with no one to watch them at night," explained Kenny.

"I thought we had an agreement.  But, they wanted to do it at night for political reasons and didn't want to respect the needs of the employee.   Ms. Mumford has no problem attending during the day," Kenny added.

There is currently no meeting scheduled for Mumford to speak publicly before the subcommittee.
