MERCER COUNTY, NJ --  Just before noon on Monday, the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Tornado Watch for Mercer County as well as 15 other central and southern New Jersey counties.  The Tornado Watch is in effect until 6:00 pm on Monday. 

This alert is in addition to a high wind warning that is in effect until 7:00 on Monday for the same region.  The NWS advised that south winds between 25 mph and 40 mph as well as mind gusts between 60 mph and 70 mph could blow down trees and possible power lines.  

The Nor'easter weather system that is moving through the region also can cause flooding in low-lying areas.
