HAMILTON, NJ - The Hamilton Township Career Firefighters Foundation, and FMBA Locals 84 and 284, are asking for support for one of their own after a Saturday fire destroyed most of their possessions.

According to an account shared on the GoFundMe page that has been created, both Firefighter Matt Sanders and his father, Rich, a Supervisor with Robert Wood Johnson EMS, were asleep in their home when the sound of the smoke alarm woke them up.

Trapped by heat and flames the pair, along with Matt’s girlfriend, were forced out of the burning home through a bedroom window. The family dog also escaped unharmed.

“As firefighters we are trained and committed to always coming to the aid of others in need,” FMBA Local 284 President Nick Buroczi told TAPinto Hamilton/Robbinsville. “Matt and Rich have spent their careers helping those they’ve never even met. We are hopeful that in his time of need some will step up and offer them some much needed assistance.”

As of publication the effort had collected more than $3,700 of the $5,000 goal. Click here to help support the Sanders Family.
