HAMILTON, NJ - The Princeton Tennis Program (PTP) is ready to serve up some fun with tennis programs for children and adults at Hamilton's Veterans Park this spring and summer. After classes were canceled last year due to COVID-19.

"We can't thank the Mayor (Martin) and his Administration enough for making us feel welcome," said Gina Pileggi from PTP. "All of our instructors are coming back, and we're anxious to get back on the tennis courts,"

The PTP indoor and outdoor facilities were closed for six months last year due to the pandemic.

Noting that tennis is generally a "low-risk" sport when it comes to possible transmission of the virus, Pileggi said it's a bit trickier during clinics when students are doing drills but "everyone is being cautious and careful."  To be safe, some skills clinics have been scaled back in size to just four players as opposed to six.

The PTP programs offered at Veterans Park will begin on May 11 and will run for six weeks, three days per week. Classes are available from beginner skill-builder classes to intermediate. There are classes for the littlest players at age five through adults. Additional programs are offered at Community Park South in West Windsor.

Summer camps will begin on June 21 for ten weeks with half or full-day programs available.

"We've had a long relationship with the Princeton Tennis Program at Veterans Park that has been beneficial to our residents for many years," said Hamilton Township Councilman Rick Tighe. "We are grateful to work with them and Mayor Martin's team to bring tennis back after missing it last year.  It's a program that is welcoming ro everybody."
