HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ --  Once again, the TAPinto Athlete of the Week is not a single person, but a team.  The Hasbrouck Heights Boys Cross County Team has been selected Athlete of the Week based on their dominating performance in winning the Bergen County Division D championship on Saturday at Darlington in Mahwah.  

The championship marks the first time since 1974 that Heights boys team has won a County championship, and it follow their North Jersey Interscholastic Championship earlier in the season.  

What is remarkable is by winning handily over Cresskill, 50 to 103, they did so based on incredible balance.   Ryan Mernin's fourth was the highest finisher on the team. He was followed by Nick Bua in seventh in the top 10.  Jeremy Bailey (12th), Rei Vaka (13th) and Bryan Cobcobo (14th) gave Heights five finishers in the top 15, and TK Kasper (19th) and TJ Singh (23rd) finished ahead of every other team's fourth place finisher in the race.

Their combined team time of of 1:30:37  was four minutes and 12 seconds faster than second place Cresskill.  They were over 50 seconds per man faster than the second place team.  

In winning they qualified for the Bergen County Meet of Champions on Saturday.
