SOUTH WHITEHALL TOWNSHIP, PA - The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office announced the autopsy results of a Hasbrouck Heights resident who was killed Saturday night outside Dorney Park in Pennsylvania.
According to the report, Joseph Santos, 44, died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Coroner’s office. He was pronounced dead on Saturday, July 28 at 6:08 p.m. at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest. The autopsy was performed Tuesday morning.
Scott M. Grim, Lehigh County Coroner, “ruled the manner of death Homicide." according to the official report. "The definition of Homicide is death at the hands of another. As part of the investigation, toxicology tests are being performed and we are awaiting those results. Upon the completion of the state police investigation, the District Attorney will make the determination as to whether the shooting was justified.”
The report said the incident occurred at approximately 5:44 p.m. in front of 3712 Hamilton Boulevard, South Whitehall Township.
According to local media reports, Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin said Santos was “behaving ...bizarrely,". Santos was shot by police after a confrontation. They had been called to the scene after Santos had been reportedly interfering with traffic on the road, attacking passing cars, damaging some.
The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office and the Pennsylvania State Police are conducting the investigation with the assistance of the Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin and the Homicide Task Force.
